Suqoon Medical and Surgical Camp in Segera Mission Hospital

A COLLABORATION FOR HEALTHCARE

The Suqoon Medical and Surgical Camp, held on the 3rd and 4th of October 2023 in Segera, Laikipia County, Kenya, addressed pressing healthcare needs in one of the country's arid and marginalized regions. The camp, organized in collaboration with the County Government of Laikipia, Healing Lives Foundation, Taiba Medical Centre, and CHEPs Kenya, aimed to mitigate the adverse health effects of prolonged drought, particularly on the elderly population.

A RANGE OF MEDICAL SERVICES

Laikipia County, home to approximately 11,000 elderly individuals, faces high rates of non-communicable diseases exacerbated by limited access to healthcare services. The camp provided a comprehensive range of medical services, including minor surgeries, dental care, physiotherapy, eye cataract surgeries, and general medical checkups.

PROJECT SUCCESS

The project's success was evident through the remarkable turnout and impact:

Beneficiaries: A total of 1004 patients, comprising elderly individuals, men, women, and children, received essential medical care and attention.
Service Delivery: The camp efficiently delivered various medical services, including surgeries, consultations, and medication dispensing, meeting the diverse healthcare needs of the community.
Collaboration: Local stakeholders actively participated in the planning andexecution of the camp, ensuring seamless coordination and maximum outreach.
Outcome: The camp successfully raised awareness, screened patients for critical conditions, and provided necessary treatments and referrals, contributing significantly to improving the health and well-being of the community.
